Froggy Pond Guest Farm Tonteldoos Welcomes You

Your Home Away From Home

The Story of Froggy Pond Guest Farm

The original concept of Froggy Pond Farm was conceived by Patricia Wade who built a home for

Herself and, as a consequence of her love for plants, decided to grow lavender. She produced

Lavender oil and supplied the product to Margaret Roberts – the well-known South African Herbal

Horticulturist who designed an extraordinary and exceptional center to teach about herbs, medicinal

Foods and natural insecticides. She was regarded as the doyenne of herbs in RSA.

Post the sale of the farm by Patricia to the original business partners of mine, the farm was used as a

Recreational ‘getaway’ home for family and friends.

I first visited the farm in the very cold winter month of July 2005 to recover from a severe bout of

Flu. I was taken up with the tranquillity of the farm but, at the time, a little concerned about the

Overall security. I was unsure whether my business partners in another venture would sell to me,

But managed to purchase 50% in the first instance and the balance in February 2017 and decided to

Embark upon a major revamp of the total property, all the buildings and ensure the upgrade and

Installation of excellent security.

The security elements are now almost complete with the exception of 1 x 150m stone wall on the

West side of the property. This is currently work in progress. However, the balance of the

Homestead and cottages, are now securely protected by high grade electric fencing and palisades

With sections of high stone walls. In addition, the farm has excellent security controls with the

Assistance of the local security service providers and we are confident that our security is of a high

Grade and offers peace of mind in the countryside to family, friends and guests.

We have a passion for unique metal art which is reflected in and around the grounds and which offer

Interesting and entertaining focal points on the property. The extremely prolific fruit bearing trees

(Figs, pears, apricots, apples, pomegranates and a variety of berries) are at their best in the

Summer/Christmas months and provide an excellent source of fruit for jams and preserves for use

On the farm. Of course, the local monkey family are also very interested in the fruit and this does

Provide a level of entertainment – however, the electric fencing has now somewhat curtailed that.
